This is one of the most discussed topics especially in Clinical Genomics! Affordability, accuracy, feasibility and of course time consumption - based on these factor mostly, which sequencing technology is more suitable for clinics? Whole Exome Sequencing or Whole Genome Sequencing? (WGS or WES, WGS vs WES) So here's my 2 cents on this discussion! When it comes to DNA sequencing there has always been a raging debate over the choice of Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) or Whole Exome Sequencing (WXS) for routine use. Whole genome sequencing (WGS), as the name suggests is the process of obtaining the entire genome. In most cases however, this is far from practical and only 95-97% of the genome is covered because it is technically difficult to sequence certain regions of the genome (high GC content, large repeat regions, centromeres, telomeres, etc.) with existing technology. “It’s very fair to say the human genome was never fully sequenced,” - Craig Venter “The human genome ha...
Dogs are lovely creatures & are adorable. No doubts about that. But if there is one in close radius, I have an anxiety attack. I do everything to avoid getting near them. Also have dreams of dogs chasing me! How do I get rid of this fear?
My partner has the same thing for dogs..Her fear is inversely proportional to the size of the dog - the smaller the dog the more petrified she gets. I am a Veterinarian and to me it is irrational but I would not say it is irrational for her or anyone to have such phobias as each of them have a strong underlying reason embedded in our brain's circuitry.
Here are some things you could do.
1. Visit a dog shelter nearby and try to go near the cages and let the dogs sniff your hand, you would be surprised how those poor doggies will be timid and shy and sometimes even afraid of You. Once you have passed level one, u could perhaps try and stroke their neck or shoulder gently. You will automatically see the tail wagging as a signal of friendly approval.
2. Watch as many good youtube videos of family dogs. I remember watching some videos of a labrador and a baby girl growing up together.
3. Go to a park which is frequented by dog walkers and try to strike a conversation with someone you find friendly. By doing so You have made an indirect contact with the dog. Remember a friend of a friend is a friend.
Try these with full conviction. It sure works. Have fun making more friends. :) good luck. - Venkatesh Chellappa
I'll try this! Talking to a friend of a friend.
